The Prince George Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra North Summer Program are excited to be the host of a summer camp happening right here in Prince George! We welcomed string players of all levels and ages to apply, and select instrumentalists are considered for chamber music and/or symphony orchestra.

The Orchestra North Summer Program, Prince George, was held from July 28 - Aug 1 2023, followed by a tour August 2-3 for select players.

TA and Professional Development Opportunities

The Orchestra North Summer Program is dedicated to encouraging musical excellence and enthusiasm in northern BC. Now in its 10th season, we are inviting professional musicians and gifted university students to apply to get involved as performers, collaborators and/or teaching assistants. For more information see the Academy Page.

The Academy Program is based on a strong belief that all musicians are lifelong students of our craft because our art merits a constant striving for excellence, and seek to support this need through our Academy program. Professionals and advanced student player  (typically university-level) on any instrument are welcome to apply.

About this year's program:

Designed to help participants experience the joy of playing music in ensembles settings while developing their orchestral skills, the camp will also feature opportunities for chamber music and technical development. There will be ensembles for players of all levels of playing.

The summer camp is a collaboration between the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, the Prince George Conservatory of Music, and the Orchestra North Summer Program. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the BC Arts Council and the many volunteer hands that make this event possible!

The camp will be led by experienced instructors Simon Macdonald (violin), Roxi Dykstra (violin/viola) and Yu Yu Liu (cello), all who have special connections to northern BC. Click on names for links to bios.

The camp also welcomes other professionals and select advanced students for collaborative, professional development and TA positions.
